FCIP met last night at Everyday Joe's in downtown Fort Collins. 15 members attended this second meeting and we had a lot of lively discussion. A few key items:
- The message board here at Meetup.com will only be used for group announcements from now on. We'll be using the forums at our CollectiveX site instead because they're a lot more versatile. See the post on this to get the invitation link, and feel free to create new sub-forums as needed.
- We've started a Reference Library forum on CollectiveX for reviews, book lists, and possible swaps between members.
- Ron Z. will be checking out Mugs and Dazbog as possible venues for our April meeting.
- On your Meetup profile, please take a moment and answer a few new questions - what are you good at (like PHP, copywriting, or Flash) and what would be your ideal project or client?
- We talked about the format of future meetings. One idea is to have a 20-30 minute presentation by one person each time (after a round of introductions. Another is to submit topics, and then break out into 2-3 smaller groups for discussion where members can float between groups as desired. There may also be a post-meeting group that stays after the primary meeting breaks up.
- We talked about the idea of having Saturday workshops, where one or two members would lead a group with laptops in learning some aspect of web technology.
- Finally we discussed having a mission statement for the group regarding educating clients (and prospects) about the importance and necessity of having and using a business website.
If you have topic ideas or any input about how our meetings should be structured, please post them in the Group News forum on CollectiveX for now.
